Although the Tour de France has five big stages remaining, the Vuelta is still weeks away, and road season is in full swing, we've already been hard at work preparing for cyclocross season. For us, this means not only training, but preparing for SwampThingCX the two races we'll be putting on in our hometown as part of the StomachOfAnger series of Michigan cyclocross races.
For the second consecutive year, the
race will be held at Lansing's 60-acre Red Cedar Park, a former golf
course that has been unused and unmaintained since 2007. In 2011, we
started cutting a cyclocross course into the overgrown vegetation, and
that fall put on the first cyclocross racing Lansing had seen in years.
Since then, the park - while still unmaintained by the city - has become
an unofficial cyclocross park. Situated near Michigan State University
and not far from the Capitol building, the park is a beautiful swath of
nature in the middle of the city.
Now, we're at it again, hard at work each day to cut the course and get it ridden and ready for the big events this fall.

Each lap of the course is approximately 1.5 miles in length and incorporates grass, dirt, mud, and barriers as it makes its way through fields and woods along the Red Cedar river.
The races will take place at 12:00 noon on September 23 and November 18.
Early registration is $25. Same day registration is $30.
Additional races on the same day are only $10.
